How to Manage Venues in the Data Library

Here's a quick guide on how to effectively use the Venues Data Library tool in Sales section.

Use this section to clean up duplicate or inaccurate venue names, map ticket purchases to the proper venue, and create new master venue profiles.

Pro Tip: Clean up your venues regularly to ensure up-to-date venue names match both current and historical data (pay close attention to venue name changes). Key areas of the Tradable Bits platform, from FanCRM to Automated Ads, use the venue_name field for reporting and targeting.

Key Components of the Venues Data Library

  • Existing "Matched" Venues: Venues created from your third-party ticketing integrations that are properly linked to purchases. Purchasing fields can be pulled and aggregated seamlessly under these venues.
  • Existing "Unmatched" Venues: Venues created from your third-party ticketing integrations that are not properly linked to purchases. While Tradable Bits pulls the underlying purchase data, it cannot match these transactions to a verified venue profile.

Section 1: Existing "Matched" Venues

Matched venues consist of the following properties:

  • Source: Where your venue data is getting pulled from. If you’re working with third-party integrations, these are the raw venue names provided by ticketing companies (can include one or multiple source names).

    • Example: If Ticketmaster labels a venue "Alix Goolden Performance Hall" and FrontGate labels it "Alix Goolden", they represent the same physical location. Under Source, add both "Alix Goolden Performance Hall" and "Alix Goolden".
  • Venue Name: The name applied to all "cleaned" purchases across the platform.

    • Example: To standardize all past and present purchases under "Alix Goolden Hall", map both "Alix Goolden Performance Hall" and "Alix Goolden" to the master Venue Name "Alix Goolden Hall".
  • Discovery Venue ID
  • Discovery Promoter ID
  • Display Name: Determines how the venue name appears in your automated ad copy whenever an ad template uses a venue name token (e.g., "Jay-Z at [venue_name]").

  • Venue Type: A custom descriptor indicating the venue's purpose or scale (e.g., "Small Venue" for 50–200 capacity, or "Merchandise Store" to attribute merch sales).

  • Location: The physical location of the venue (Country, Province/State, Metro Area, City).

  • Venue Time Zone: The local timezone associated with the venue.

Editing & Deleting Matched Venues

  • Edit: Click the pencil icon next to the venue.
  • Delete: Click the trash bin icon.

Note: Deleting a venue erases all associated data mapping. Ensure all historical purchase data tied to the venue is mapped to a new venue before confirming deletion.

Section 2: Existing “Unmatched” Venues

To view unmatched venues, open the dropdown menu under the Unmatched Venues section. This displays the first 10 venues from your purchasing data that require mapping.

How to "Clean" Unmatched Venues

To route unmatched purchases correctly, choose one of two methods:

  1. Select an existing venue to "Match to": Pick a target venue from the dropdown list of existing matched venues.
  2. Create a new venue to funnel purchases to: Build a brand-new master venue profile to group these sales.

How to Create a New Venue

Click the "+ Venue" button in the upper right corner to configure a new venue profile:

New venues help maintain long-term data cleanliness. For instance, if a venue changes its corporate name, create a new venue entry and remap historical venue names to the updated profile.

  • Source(s): The raw ticketing venue names or source data used to map incoming sales (venue_name) to a new or cleansed master venue name. This can include incoming "unmatched" venue names from third-party ticketing platforms, or existing "matched" venues (such as a historical venue name) that you want to re-route and funnel into this new master venue. Note that each venue source can only be mapped once across the platform.

Once you have filled out all of your properties, click Save to add the venue rule. All purchasing information tied to your specified sources will now funnel directly into this new venue profile.
