How do I create a HubSpot integration?

The following guide will walk you through how to sync your Tradable Bits audience segments directly to your HubSpot CRM.

What does this connection do?

By creating a Private Tradable Bits App on Hubspot, you can connect the profile of fans you've collected within Tradable Bits to your Hubspot marketing ecosystem. You can import fans into Hubspot based on Tag, by participation in a certain engagement campaign, or account-wide.

Why would you use this connection?

Marketing Automation: You’ve got a great email marketing cadence and list already. Now you just want to enrich your lists with fans outside of your existing marketing system that you’ve collected through Tradable Bits. Easy!

Before you embark on your first email endpoint integration, we’ve got some tips to help you make the most of your tags and to understand exactly what you’re setting up.

What’s in a TBits tag?

Tags are powerful tools for segmenting your customers & fans into audiences for future retargeting. They’re essentially a label you apply to help segment based on behaviour, campaign participation or whatever else you choose. To choose some naming comm

Within the Tradable Bits system, there are 2 types of tags to be aware of:

Standard Tags: These categorize fans based on their activity within a campaign (engagement campaign participations - you know, where you click the “retroactively tag fans” in the misc section of your campaign), or based on the manual import from a csv file.
Smart Tags: These categorize fans based on a search filter saved in the FanCRM. These tags may update dynamically based on the parameters of the filter.

Tags are what you use most often to transfer fan profiles between Tradable Bits, and your email endpoint of choice.

Use-cases:

  1. Using a smart tag that is dynamic, to consistently update a desired audience:

Let’s say that you’re trying to target your VIP or “highest value” audience. Your team has determined that anyone who has engaged with a campaign in the last month, lives within a certain radius, and has spent a minimum of $1000 with you in the last year fits this mark. These fans deserve some exclusive offers from your email marketing team.

So you first set them up as a filter, then use that filter to make a smart tag for your email endpoint.

Now, when this smart tag is added to your email endpoint, you can expect any fan that fits your parameters of “high-value” will be synced to your desired audience list of choice within Hubspot email, and they will be tagged with “high-value”.

2. Using a standard tag for a specific email push:

This time you want to email fans that have participated in your “SAVE THE DATE” contest with content to upsell tickets to your event. On your campaign itself, you’ve retroactively tagged all the fans participating with ‘save-the-date’. Now, you add this tag to your email endpoint and sync it with your desired audience list of choice. All campaign participants who have opted-in for email will now be visible and reachable through Hubspot.

What’s in a TBits filter?

Tradable Bits filters are those search parameters you build on to define different audience segments. Before these search terms are transformed into a tag, they’re a filter.

If you want to do a one-time push to your email endpoint of specific search parameters, you can “export” fans directly to your email endpoint from the FanCRM section. This is likely the only time you will not use a “tag” to sync to your email endpoint.

Note: this method only works for email endpoints that have already been set up .

Setting Up Your Hubspot Connection

What you need to do on Hubspot:

You will need to create a Private App on Hubspot to connect with your Tradable Bits account. Follow these steps:

  1. In Settings, go to Account Management > Integrations > Private Apps
  2. Click the Create a private app button
  3. Give your app a name, something like Tradable Bits App and a description, something like "we're using this app to pull in all new fans from Tradable Bits into Hubspot"
  4. Click over to the Scopes section and choose which permissions you want to enable. We recommend starting with the following scopes:
  • crm.import
  • crm.lists.read
  • crm.lists.write
  • crm.objects.companies.read
  • crm.objects.companies.write
  • crm.objects.contacts.read
  • crm.objects.contacts.write

5.   Click Create App and copy the private token. You will have to use this private token to connect   with Tradable Bits

Connecting to Tradable Bits

Once you have your Hubspot Private App set up, and your Private Token in hand, you can finish your connection with Tradable Bits.

  1. Log into Tradable Bits, and in the top Navigation Bar go to Integrations > Outgoing Integrations
  2. Click +New and choose Hubpsot from the drop down

  1. Give your Hubspot Integration the same name as your Private App Name in Hubspot
  2. Paste the private token you saved from creating your Private App into the Access Token field
  3. Now that your integration is connected, you can manage how you want to send your fans over to Hubspot using the Manage Sources tab

Where the Data Shows Up in Hubspot:

Data from Tradable Bits will be represented in Hubspot Lists. Our system will look for a List Name in Hubspot that corresponds with the Name you set as part of your Outgoing Integration setup on Tradable Bits. If there is no Hubspot list matching that name, then our system will create one.

Frequency of Data Pushes:

Our system pushes newly tagged fans (if you are using a smart tag) every hour. If you would like to push fans outside of this cycle, just click that Refresh button in the top right corner.
