How do I set up FanXP overlays?
This guide will walk you through how to set up entries/overlays in FanXP
PART 1: SETTING UP ENTRIES
Once you have logged into your Tradable Bits account, and have selected the FanXP campaign you will be working in, click on the “Entries” Tab.
Under the “Overlays” section, click the “+ Add New” button.
Options to choose from:
- Question
- Banner
- Clicker
- Static Item
- Custom Field
- Shopify Product [If you have integrated your Shopify Plus Account - speak with your Partner Specialist]
Once you click on an option, a modal will appear where you can configure your entry.
CONFIGURING OVERLAYS
Every overlay type requires the following fields to be completed:
Producer Description:
This is what appears on the entry in the producer console.
We recommend setting up naming conventions within your team to keep track of different overlays.
Example:
Artist - Group Name - 2-3 word description:(Bonobo - Trivia - History - Simon Green - DOB)
Consider establishing specific abbreviations with your team for common questions. I.e. Points Per Game = PPG
By setting up a naming and numbering system from day 1, you will be able to organize your overlays more effectively.
Group Name:
This is the “folder” that your overlay will live in, within the producer console.
We recommend grouping by theme or use-case of overlays. For example: “Jim Bean Sponsorship”, “Bonobo Merchandise” “Trivia” etc.
Note: This is smart text. When adding a new question to an existing group, make sure you select from the list of your groups.
PART 2: SPECIFIC OVERLAY TYPES & SETUP
QUESTION
In the Fan-view, questions first pop-up as a dropdown clickable title that must be opened for fan participation.
Once a question is pushed, it is greyed out and unable to be used again until results are reset.
TRIVIA: Invite fans to test their knowledge during the livestream. Whether answering obscure facts about their favourite artists or putting their sports knowledge to the test, keep fans on their feet.
Recommended Time: 20 Seconds
Make sure to check-box the correct answer when setting up your answers.
PREDICTIONS: Fast-timed predictions are a great way to put fans in the moment. Use during free-throws, face-offs or to predict which song an artist might play next.
Recommended Time: 10-15 seconds
How to Setup a Predictions Question
Step 1: [ENTRIES] To set up a prediction question, first set up the question you’d like to ask and possible answers (without checking off the correct answer)
Step 2: [PRODUCER CONSOLE] Then push the question to the fans and let them answer.
Step 3: [PRODUCER CONSOLE] Push the results once, to show the percentage of people that voted for each answer.
Step 4: [ENTRIES] Edit the question and check off the correct answer. Click SAVE
Step 5: [PRODUCER CONSOLE] Push results again to show fans the correct answer (fans will get their points)
If you are duplicating the prediction question you set for other campaigns, don’t forget to clear “correct” answers.
POLLS: Uncover more about your fans by asking them opinion questions. For example: Ask fans what their favourite album is, or where they’d like to see a live-show next.
Make sure you do not check off a “correct” answer.
SETUP:
- Producer Description
- Group Name
- Question : (Max 128 Characters)
- Question Duration and Answers
- Content Image: Max size is 5MB, can be a GIF, JPEG or PNG
- Sponsor Image: Max size is 5MB, we recommend JPEG with a transparent background
- Sponsor Image URL: adds a clickable link to sponsor’s website from their logo
- Sponsor Name: For your administrative purposes to keep track of sponsors.
BANNERS
Banners appear as an image that drops down, with a single CTA or point of view.
Use Case: Banners are great to use for things like stats, quick facts, promotions, GIFS, or other quick images/messages that you want to relay to fans during the event. For example, during a sporting event, a banner could be made for a “goal moment”. In a music event, a banner could be a quick promotion or a link to a contest to win free merchandise.
SETUP
You will need the following information and assets to set up this overlay type:
- Producer Description
- Group Name
- Title: This is the messaging/copy for the banner
- Max 128 characters
- Font is white by default, so a darker background image is preferred
- The title sits over the image. (Do not include title if you are using an image with text as it will look confusing).
- Content Image: This is the background image of the banner. Max 5MB
- Accepts JPEG, GIF, and PNG format
- 1125 x 192 is preferred. Banner width stays consistent, but banner height can be anything.
- URL: This will turn the banner into a clickable link. It is case sensitive so use lowercase. You can also link to different areas of the platform:
- Live Chat = #chat
- Feed Selection = #feed-selection
CLICKERS
Use Case: Use as a way for fans to show their appreciation or excitement (or to build excitement) during the event.
SETUP
You will need the following information to set up this overlay type:
- Producer Description
- Group Name
- Title: This will be visible to fans in the “dropdown clickable title”
- Click Goal: This is the combined clicks for all users. Beside the clicker, there will be a “count meter”. The count meter will track against your click goal
- Countdown Timer: The countdown to start clicking (i.e. “start clicking in 3..2..1...GO”)
- Time: Amount of time the fan has to click
- Background Image: The image that appears behind the button.
- 5 MB
- JPEG, PNG, GIF
- 1080 x 1080
- Sponsor Image: Sponsor image is found at the bottom of the button
- 5 MB

- Sponsor Image URL: For adding a clickable link to the sponsor’s website from their logo
- Sponsor Name: For your administrative purposes to keep track of sponsors.
Note: Make your countdown duration and click time low. This element is intended to bolster excitement in the event!

STATIC ITEMS
Static Items are quite flexible when it comes to use in your event. Consisting of an image, title and description they can be used for a variety of purposes.
When you push a static item, a notification appears for the fan, which sends the user to the home tab on click. You can also ‘pin’ static items, which means that they will stay on your home tab (or in the video viewing area if the event is in “staging” phase) for the duration of the event.
Use Case: Use static items as ways to advertise merchandise or link to other promotional materials (upcoming tour dates, album links, interesting project descriptions etc). We recommend including an FAQ link as part of your pinned static-items.
SETUP
You will need the following information to set up this overlay type:
- Producer Description
- Group Name
- Pin: Select this to keep the item pinned to the homepage
- Title: Brief creative header to attract attention - keep it short with “sizzle” Max 75 Characters
- All Caps
- Sits below image
- Body Text:
- Max 128 Characters
- Sits below image and below title
- Content Image
- Max 5 MB
- JPEG, PNG, GIF
- 1080 x 720
- Button Text: Your CTA, which will take the fan to another engagement tab outside of the website. Keep it short. I.e. LISTEN TO ALBUM, SEE MY SCORE etc.
- Button URL: Where you take the fan once they click on the button.
- It’s case sensitive, so keep everything lower case
- Links within the platform: Live chat = #chat | Leaderboard =#leaderboard | Feed Selection =#feed-selection

SHOPIFY PRODUCT
The Shopify Product Overlay connects with your Shopify Plus Store to let fans purchase merchandise and other items directly in-stream. This Overlay type is not available unless you have connected your Shopify Plus Store. Please speak to your Partner Specialist to setup.
Use Case Use this overlay to drive in-stream conversions by making your fan's journey to purchase seamless. The overlay allows fans to browse through items in-stream and add the items they want to their cart.
SETUP
As mentioned above, in order to have access to this overlay, you must first integrate your Tradable Bits Business account with your Shopify Plus Account.
You will need the following information to set up this overlay type:
- Producer Description
- Group Name
- Title: Title presented to fans. This title is what inspires fans to check out your products, so keep it snappy!
- Shopify Product: You will need to know the first two letters of the Shopify product you want to push. If your Shopify Plus account has been integrated properly, you can search for items in the drop-down menu.
Now you can create a truly interactive experience for your fans!
