The following guide will walk you through how and when to set up your “Side-Scroller” Campaign.
What is the Side Scroller?
The Side Scroller Campaign combines our classic UGC functionality with the ability to display an event schedule on your big screens during a festival or event.
The campaign “scrolls” through images and posts collected with your desired hashtags from social media, and a schedule that helps your fans know where to be and at what times. It’s the perfect combination of information and fan representation to put on display!
Side Scroller Features
- Customizable UGC Frames: Instead of just scrolling through images, the Side Scroller includes the ability to upload customized “frames” to help you build a branded experience.
- Event Schedule: Using Tradable Bits Idol Events, set up a daily schedule that shows fans which venues to go to for specific shows.
- UGC: Connect the Side Scroller campaign to one of your pre-established UGC streams on Tradable Bits to start pulling in all content associated with specific hashtags and events.
When should you use the Side Scroller?
When you want to display branded user-generated content alongside a schedule/event information.
How to Configure a Side Scroller Campaign?
Side Scroller follows the same format as all Tradable Bits campaigns with a “Setup” section and a “Design” section. Follow the sidebar from top to bottom, and view the design guidelines for additional information on image sizing recommendations.
Side Scroller Configuration
Once you have completed “general setup” click on the Configuration tab.
You have three main components you can set up:
- UGC Settings
- Slider Settings
- Schedule Settings
UGC Settings
This section is where you choose which UGC stream you want to pull all images and content from, and where you can upload stylized image frames.
-
UGC Stream: Select your desired UGC stream from the dropdown. If you do not have a UGC stream already created, follow these steps:
- Go back to the Tradable Bits home screen and look for the “UGC” section under Audience Engagement
- Click +New
- Create a new stream. For a full walkthrough on how to create a UGC Stream, visit this guide: How to get started with UGC
-
Text-Based UGC: Toggle this slider on to include text-only posts.
-
UGC Frame(s): Upload up to 8 different frame types to brand your side-scroller campaign. These frames sit directly on top of the images and posts you pull in, so make sure that these frames sit flush on a transparent background.
Slider Settings
Use this section to customize the transitions on your side scroller. Choose:
- The swipe direction,
- How fast or slow you want the images to transition,
- The length of time you’d like images up on the screen before transitioning, and
- Whether you want to include the current time so fans can check the time when they look up at the display.
Schedule Settings
Configure this section to include a rotating “schedule” to display what events are happening, and where fans should go to participate in the event.
This schedule is tied to an Idol Label that you can set up within your Tradable Bits account. If you do not have an idol label already created with associated events, follow these steps:
- Go back to the Tradable Bits home screen and look for the “Idol” section under the “Know your Fans” section.
- Click into Idol > Events
- Here you can create “events” one at a time, or in bulk by uploading a CSV (recommended).
- In your CSV include the name of each event happening (i.e. Little Simz), the venue name, and the label name. We recommend creating a label to tie just to this campaign for your specific event. For example: TBits_Fest_ Schedule_2024.

Side Scroller Content
This section is only relevant if you want to include the event schedule feature on your side scroller campaign. It is where you can customize “Venue Cards” to brand how they appear on your event schedule with a specific theme.
Note: The event schedule is driven by the idol label that you select. As a result, you can only add venues that are encompassed in that idol label. All available venues will appear in the “venue” field drop down. If you don’t see your desired venue, please revisit the configuration of your idol label.
What you can customize:
-
The venue title card on your event schedule.
- Use the Venue Card Background Image and/or the Venue Card Frame to upload image branding.
- If you don’t want to use an image background, you can select a “background colour” for your card with the venue background colour field
-
The performance/event timeslot cards.
- Use the performance timeslot background colour field to customize what the time cards look like. These time cards include the title of the event.
That’s it! Have fun creating your first Side Scroller campaign! As this is still the Beta version, we’re happy to hear your feedback. Reach out to support@tradablebits.com for any unanswered questions.
